Project Engineering Manager

We are constantly growing and are currently looking for a technical astute Project Engineering Manager to join our Engineering Department.

Role Summary:

You will undertake the overall accountability of Engineering Management of company’s multidiscipline tenders and projects, ensuring safety, timely completion, and overall excellence of the Engineering operations.

Key responsibilities:

• Be accountable for the development and execution of the Engineering Project/Tender Plan for scope, deliverables, tools, resources, milestones, engineering and overall project schedule, engineering risk register, engineering strategy, engineering communication plan, etc.
• Be accountable for the delivery of Project Engineering according to: the Project Plan, the engineering and overall Project Schedule, and Contract requirements
• Coordinate optioneering / value engineering works at the beginning of the Project/Tender and facilitates the timely decision making
• Participate in the selection process of Project/Tender Engineering staff, of the definition of their roles and of their responsibilities in the Project/Tender
• Participates in the selection process, and in the evaluation of Engineering Subcontractors during Tender/Project execution
• Be responsible for the proactive set up of corrective mitigation measures in case the engineering work quality or schedule is compromised
• Manage all Engineering activities during Tender preparation and Project execution of the Engineering Team - internal (in-house Engineering Department) and external (Engineering Subcontractors) – that is assigned to the Tender/Project
• Remain accountable during tender/project execution for the (re-) assessment of required engineering resources/staffing and engineering team performance to meet Project - Contract / Tender requirements
• Manage the Engineering Subcontracts, supervises, but also supports the Engineering Subcontractors in the process of reviews and approvals from the Employer and their PMC
• Coordinate and liaises with the Employer and their PMC as well as other design stakeholders (meetings, workshops, etc.)
• Identify and manage project/tender risks in relation to the project/tender engineering works and be responsible for the maintenance of the engineering risk register
• Resolve engineering issues or properly escalates them to the Project Manager and Engineering Director
• Be accountable for Engineering change management during project execution
• Be accountable for the provision of technical support to Contract administration, to Procurement Department and during the construction operations (temporary works, construction engineering, etc.)
• Keep up to date with applicable Codes, Standards and Legislation
• Participates in the development of Engineering deliverables of your Engineering discipline and reviews for technical content Engineering deliverables of all Engineering disciplines

Essential prerequisites include:

• Beng or equivalent in Engineering and an MSc or equivalent in relevant knowledge areas
• Minimum fifteen (15) years of design experience in the EPC industry in works related to Archirodon’s Core Businesses, out of which at least five (5) years in Project Engineering Management in an international / multicultural environment
• Project Management certification is highly desired (e.g., PMI’s Project Management Professional certification)
• Broad technical competence and excellence in your engineering discipline, strong technical background, and advanced analytical skills
• Must have very good knowledge of applicable international codes & standards, international design guidelines & recommendations
• Experience in Environmental regulatory requirements (local, international), review and understanding of local Environmental Laws would be a definite advantage
• Experience in management and administration of Engineering Contracts
• Excellent command (written and oral) of English language
• Good command (written and oral) of the French language would be a definite advantage
• Proficiency in Project Management software (e.g., Primavera) is highly desirable
• Experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) Management would be a definite advantage
• Mobility is required; during execution of EPC Projects, you will be reporting directly to the Project Managers and you will be required to spend considerable amount of time at the Project Home Office interacting directly with the Project Team, the Client, their PMC and other project stakeholders, managing / coordinating the Engineering Subcontractors, etc
