Lead Design Engineer - Structural, Marine/Coastal, Geotechnical

We are constantly growing and are currently looking for a Lead Structural Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department.

Role Summary:

You will undertake and perform accurately and confidently structural design tasks at all stages of a project (from feasibility to detailed design), while leading effectively other team members under your supervision while leading effectively other team members under your supervision and assist the company in enhancing their engineering proficiency.

Key responsibilities may include to:

• Prepare design deliverables of his/her Engineering discipline during tender preparation or during project execution including but not limited to advanced numerical modeling and studies, engineering calculations, reports, design drawings, specifications, etc.
• Assist in the selection of optimum solutions/systems through analysis of information, proposals, and evaluation of results
• Assess the potential risks of specific engineering designs and assist in the development of alternative design solutions that better meet project requirements
• Collaborate with and/or review the work of external consultants at tender and project implementation phases
• Ensure compliance with applicable design engineering international codes and standards, guidelines and recommendations, project, statutory, and safety requirements
• Perform technical bid evaluations of vendor offers and technical review of Vendor drawings and documents, for conformance with contract requirements
• Assist the Engineering Team Managers, or Project Engineering Managers in the organization of project/tender team, the distribution of engineering work, as well as in the forecast of design workload
• Provide technical guidance and support to the project teams and Clients
• Assist in executing and coordinating assignments within agreed budget and schedule
• Consistently keep abreast of new design, construction methods, equipment and technologies. Keep up to date with applicable International and Local Codes, Standards and Legislation
• Participate in design review meetings
• Provide technical support on site
• Prepare conceptual and detailed design packages for construction of temporary works.

Essential prerequisites include:

• Beng or equivalent in Structural Engineering and an MSc (preferably in an international English-speaking University in Europe or USA) or equivalent in relevant field of expertise
• PhD in a field relevant to the abovementioned disciplines would be a definite advantage
• Minimum seven (7) years of relevant design experience in the EPC industry in works related to Port/Harbor Developments, Maritime Nearshore and Offshore Facilities & Structures, Infrastructure Projects, Power and Water Projects, Oil & Gas Projects, etc.
• Technical competence, strong technical background and advanced analytical skills in Structural Engineering including:
• conceptual designs, implementation of industry standard design solutions, selection and numerical modelling of structural systems, detailed design of steel marine structures (trestles, offshore platforms, piling, quay structures) and concrete structures (bridges, offshore or nearshore platform concrete superstructures, caissons for maritime port facilities, industrial buildings, etc.), design for construction, temporary works, rigid concrete pavements, etc.
• Work experience in an international environment will constitute an important advantage
• Proficiency in major commercial software (e.g., Sofistik FEA /Autodesk Robot FEA, Autodesk Autocad, etc.)
• Must have very good knowledge of applicable international codes & standards, international design guidelines & recommendations pertaining to his/her discipline
• Experience in Environmental regulatory requirements (local, international), review and understanding of local Environmental Laws would be a definite advantage
• Experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) would be a definite advantage
• Mobility is highly desirable to participate in working teams at Archirodon’s project home offices throughout the countries that Archirodon executes its EPC projects
• Excellent command (written and oral) of the English language
• Good command of the French language would be a definite advantage
